What pro buys you, and what it costs
eneloop pro is the capacity grade. An eneloop pro AA prints 2,600 mAh typical and 2,500 minimum on current US packs, against 2,100 and 2,000 for standard AA. The price of that capacity is in the rating: 500 recharges instead of 2,100 under the 2011 test standard, and 85% of the charge kept after one year in storage instead of 70% after ten.
That trade suits a device you drain in one sitting: a speedlight at a wedding, an AA camera, a flashlight on a long walk. A drawer full of pro cells for remotes and clocks spends money on charge those devices never use. The CC55 in pro black lists four hours for four pro AA.

eneloop pro: questions
Do you need a special charger for eneloop pro?
No. All six eneloop chargers take pro cells. Pro cells hold more, so they take longer: about four hours for four pro AA on the CC55 or CC65, and about nine on the CC17 or CC75.
How many times can you recharge eneloop pro?
Panasonic rates pro for 500 recharges under the 2011 IEC test and about 150 under the stricter 2017 edition. Hard use and heat wear any cell faster.
