eneloop USB chargers: power from a port, power to a phone

Two kinds of USB

USB on an eneloop charger means one of two things. The CC87 is powered by USB at 5 volts, so it works from a laptop, a car socket adapter or a power bank, and Panasonic gives about four and a half hours for four standard AA. Turned around, it can feed a USB device from four charged AA cells, which makes a set of eneloop a small emergency bank.

The CC75 and CC65 run from the wall like the others and add a USB output. The CC75 is the slow one, about seven hours for four AA, the CC65 the quick one with an LCD panel. If your trips involve a car and no outlet, the CC87 is the one to look at.

Every cell listed under eneloop USB chargers charges in any charger of the full eneloop range, standard or pro.

eneloop USB chargers: questions

Can you run the eneloop CC87 from a power bank?

Yes. The CC87 takes its power from a USB port at 5 volts, so a power bank or a car USB adapter works. A weak source makes the charge slower.

Can eneloop cells charge your phone?

The CC87 can supply USB power from four charged AA cells. Four AA hold far less than a phone battery, so think of it as a top-up, not a full charge.
